A Series 5000 APO is the ideal companion for your larger Schmidt-Cassegrain, Ritchey-Chr?tien, or Newtonian scope. When piggybacked, a Series 5000 APO is the ideal wide-field photography scope when guided by the primary instrument and doubles as a guide scope for the primary telescope. It also makes an ideal lightweight and portable scope for flawless visual observing.

For crisp wide field observing and imaging, nothing beats a true triple-element apochromatic refractor (APO). This is especially true in astrophotography, where APOs have produced some of the most beautiful images of the heavens ever taken from earth. But not all APOs are created equal. Today?s market is filled with semi-APOs (with two lenses instead of three) that don?t bring all colors to focus. Thanks to a two-year design process and a triple objective lens made from the highest quality ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, Meade Series 5000 ED APO Triplets are virtually free of chromatic aberration (color fringing). This means they outperform the most expensive semi-APOs at a fraction of the cost. Expert observers will be delighted by the total absence of color fringing and the scope?s textbook-perfect pinpoint star images. Even beginners will notice the breathtaking high contrast and resolution of a Meade Series 5000 APO. The scope is available as a stand-alone OTA, or as a package with our new Series 5000 2″ enhanced diagonal and an aluminum carrying case.

The VMC200L from Vixen is well suited to deep sky observing and imaging. This 8.0″/200 mm f/9.75 catadioptric telescope features a sophisticated configuration that employs incorporates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector just before the secondary mirror. The resulting optical path is corrected twice - this eliminates spherical aberration and field curvature while delivering sharper images without false-color. Because the optical correction is placed before the second mirror, there’s no need for a corrector plate and the dewing problems associated with it. Another benefit is the elimination of spherical aberrations.
 
Focusing the VMC200L yields a stable and easy to adjust image. The rack-and-pinion focusing system is placed behind the primary mirror to eliminate image-shift. The focuser accepts 2.0″ eyepieces and accessories.
